Organisation is one of the key factors with cleaning. We recently visited a school to give their cleaning cupboard some TLC and a good makeover in preparation for the new academic year. Check out these before and afters:
Here are some tips on how and to achieve results like this in your own cleaning cupboard, and why it will benefit everyone who has access to it.
- Having a clean, organised store room means that the housekeeping staff are able to find exactly what they need quickly so that the cleaning productivity is increased .
- PPE should always be provided. This includes gloves, face masks, safety goggles for decanting products and protective aprons. The provision of a first aid kit and eye wash station is recommended.
- Storing lighter items on top shelving and heavier items in the lower shelves can prevent lifting strains and accidents.
- Wall mounted tool hangers are a great way to store brushes, mops and other cleaning equipment.
- Cloths and mops should be segregated into their colours by area to prevent any cross contamination.
- Mopping systems should be cleaned down after every shift and dirty mops disposed of into the bin or laundry, dependent on the system used.
- Cleaning trollies, caddies, buckets should be prepped in readiness for the next shift.
- The cupboard should be kept locked when unattended for health and safety.
